DOORS, SIDING, ETC. |
|
| 11/5/08 - The big push now is to get the groomer garage "buttoned-up" for the winter. The first project is putting in the pass-through or people doors. | |

|
Since the concrete floor has not yet been poured, we need to create a temporary support under the doors. Bob Stickney and Gene Knox tackle the project. |

Once the supports are in place, the
doors are set in and plumbed. |

Later in the day on November
5, Jim Knight is once again "Jimmy on the spot" as he has
a couple of his crew come to help us get started putting up the metal
siding. Thanks, Jim, for all your help and information and the
donation of your own time to this project! |

Bob and Gene trim the panels ... |
... and pass them up for Jim's crew to screw into place. |

11/6/08
- Thanks to Jim Knight's crew, we now know the techniques for installing
the metal siding and we're ready to continue on our own. |

By mid-afternoon, the east wall was
done and it was on to the west wall. |

Sam stickney marks the panels and pre-drills the holes for the screws. |

It's late in the afternoon and the guys are heading down the home stretch on the west wall. |
|
| 11/7 to 11/10
- During this time (not many pictures were taken) the south and north
walls were prepared for siding. The first step was to cover the
trim around all four doors with white aluminum coil stock. Once
again, we thank Jim Knight for helping us out by bending the coil stock
with his metal brake. Bob, Louise, and Sam Stickney installed
the coil stock. |
|
| 11/11/08
- This phase of construction was slow-going: lots of detail work,
measuring ... measuring ... measuring, and cutting! |

Louise Stickney applies caulking before the white aluminum coil stock is put on above the north garage door. |
|
| After the coil stock is on, all the doors and windows were fitted with j-channel, into which the metal paneling will be set. Yet another slow and pains-taking job. | |

Before the first sheet of paneling is put on, Sam Stickney checks to make sure the starting line is plumb. |
|
| 11/13/08 - Finally, we're ready to begin putting on the metal paneling on the north wall! | |
