Club
ride route
There
were lingering snow flurries as club members gathered at 9:00 a.m behind
McDonald's Restaurant on Saturday morning, February 7, 2004. When
we left at 9:15, there were 15 sleds and 17 riders. We followed
ITS 82/Corridor 17 until we got to the Swain Pond Trail intersection.
|
| |
We stopped
briefly at the Polar Bears warming hut near Black Mountain, where Chris
Dickson and Gary Clement, our fearless leaders, conferred.

|
| |
This stop also gave
sledders the chance to chat and
make the acquaintance of new club members like Sue
and John Olsen.
It's always great
to see new faces in the club! |
| |
| It was also nice to see several young people participating in
this Club Ride! They are the next generation of Rumford Polar Bears! |

| Once back on the trail, we crossed Swain Pond, and
then left the Polar Bears Trail System to connect with the Slippery Sliders
Trail System. There were two more stops along the way before we reached
our lunch-time destination. |
| |
We
made quite a line-up as we
stretched
our legs in a field at Frye.

|
The
final stop before lunch was along the Andover Sno-Goers Club Trail
16. Nate, Rick, and Melanie Calden checked out the view
of Devil's Den from the bridge.

Is
that you, Ron Russell, peeking from behind the Caldens? |
|
| |
Chris
and Gary planned our outing well: Perfect trail conditions all
the way to Andover, where we had lunch ... or in some cases, breakfast!
With three different eateries to choose
from, the group scattered for lunch. |
| Rob and Louanne Cameron, Bruce and
Sharon Eastman, Bob and Louise Stickney, Rick, Nate, and Melanie Calden,
Chris Dickson, and Sue and John Olson decided to try Addie's Place.

|

If you're really hungry,
try Addie's Pancake Challenge. Three huge pancakes, and they're
free if you can eat them all! Bob had to pay for his! |
| |

After
lunch we all gathered to begin the ride back to Rumford. We
took ITS 82 and made a side-trip to the top of Black Mountain.
What fantastic views and a great finish to a wonderful ride!
