SOFFITS, GABLE END SHEATHING, ETC |

Continued from previous page. |

| 10/15 & 10/17/08 - The roof sheathing material used on the groomer garage was called Advantec. This product has a special coating on it to resist water penetration and takes the place of roofing paper. However, the joints where the sheets butt against each other must be sealed with a special tape. Pete and Bob from Jim Knight's construction crew and Bob Stickney got the job done. | |||

Bob Stickney applies the tape to the joints on the roof sheathing. This is not Bob's favorite place to be. He's definitely working outside his comfort zone. But, he's not taking any chances - he's got his safety harness on! |
Once the roofing tape was applied, it was on to constructing the soffits for the south gable end. |

| 10/23/08 - Another task that needed to be done was the installation of RafterMate styrofoam sheets to allow air to circulate between the roof and insulation to prevent ice dams from forming on the roof in winter. Also, the trusses needed to be fastened securely to the top plate of the walls with hurricane straps. | |

| Louise Stickney staples the RafterMate in place while Gene Knox nails on the hurricane straps. |
| 10/26/08 - The overhead garage doors needed to be trimmed before the white aluminum coil stock could be put on. | |

| Bob Stickney and John Blais work at trimming out around the north end garage door. The same was done on the south garage door. |
| 10/29/08 - Next came the installation of the windows. | |

| Louise Stickney: "Ok, Gene and Bob, hurry up and plumb this window so I can let go!" |

Bob nails the high ones and Gene nails
the low ones. |
| Now that the gable ends and soffits are completed, we're ready for the roofers to put on the standing seam metal roof. | |
